About Israel
The state of Israel suits the Ridgeback breed very well. Being located just next to the African continent, the Israeli climate, fauna and flora and the atmosphere well-suited our breed.
The landscape is very varied, we are basically a Mediterranean-climate country but we do have also 3 different deserts. The climate is pleasant, in average about 12-14c in winter and 25-29c in summer.
Talking about Israel one must bear in mind that it is very small country – both in size and in population. The size of Israel is about 20,770sq km (or 26,990 together with the "west bank territory").
Out of 193 countries in the world Israel is no. 149 in size, which makes her the 44th smaller country in the world.
We are smaller then Hawaii or New Jersey, Haiti, Macedonia, Albania, Switzerland or Belgium. We also have a small population - about 6.5 million people – but we are still one of the most crowded countries in the world.
Dogs in Israel
The chynological tradition is somewhat new to the culture of this part of the world. The IKC (Israel Kennel Club – member of the F.C.I) is the only kennel club in the Middle East. It was founded in 1974 and has about 1,500 members.
The IKC conducts about 3 International CACIB shows a year. |
